Nafisa, Art & an Excited Kindergarten Class

Yesterday was a very special day on many fronts.

Nafisa was invited to spend some time with a lovely class of Kindergarten school children and talk to them about what it's like to be an Artist, where she is from and how she knows what to paint.  They also loved hearing about Africa and Sudan, where Nafisa is orignally from.

This very eager bunch have been learning about Australian Artist Fred Williams and this term visited the National Art Gallery to see the current Fred Williams Exhibition.

The children invited Nafisa to their class so that they could proudly present their artwork projects - their interpretations of their favourite Fred Williams paintings and gain some 'expert' tips from a Real Live Artist, as in their words... "all the ones we learn about are dead"  (Please remember this in their words and they are only 5yrs old).  So it was very "cool" to talk to Nafisa who received the very high 10 Stars and Twinkling Eyes rating for her amazing and beautiful artwork.

Although Nafisa was a little nervous in the beginning, she put all that aside to share some great tips and was really impressed with this talented little bunch.  Nafisa has been invited back to spend some more time with the children next term as their new art project is going to be on Nafisa's work and their interpretation of her paintings!

Lots of fun was had by all!

Congratulations Rogia

Today we were honoured to attend the Canberra Multicultural Community Forum - Food and Culture: The Impact on Health and Ageing workshop.

Speaking at the event was our very own Rogia Ali, who spoke about the importance of recognising the diversity of our society and the importance of introducing Halal food and recognising the need to cater for all cultures and religions in our society.

We are all extremely proud of Rogia ~ she was not going to allow her fears and nerves hold her back and she was AMAZING!

Congratulations Rogia!!

Thank you to CMCF for allowing us to come along to support Rogia and another huge Thank you to Jennifer, Kasey and Nafisa who worked behind the scenes with the CMCF team to assist with the catering for today's event!

We loved seeing Jennifer, Kasey and Nafisa shine on TV this evening - Congratulations!

Welcome!

We've just got started!

Aside from being extremely excited by our project and constantly inspired by the amazing Women involved in our project, we extend a warm Welcome to you and love having you here with us as we embark on this amazing journey together.

The MEPP project is all about our Women and working together to give them the tools and skills to go out and achieve their dreams and goals whether via employment or in some instances, starting their own business.

Our trail-blazing group are inspiring those around them to push through their fears, step out of their comfort zones and reach for their dreams that have, up until now, been squashed.

We look forward to sharing many a story with you as we travel this path together!
